Some characters feel strange at first—and then they settle into something familiar.

This rabbit face started with exaggeration. Large eyes, a rounded nose, and an oversized mustache push the drawing away from realism and into something more expressive. But underneath all of that, the structure is simple.
It’s still a rabbit.

The eyes carry most of the personality here. Big, glossy, and slightly uneven, they give the character a curious, observant feeling. There’s a softness in the way they sit, like the rabbit is taking everything in rather than reacting.
The nose sits right in the center, rounded and calm. It anchors the face, keeping all the exaggerated features from drifting too far apart. Without it, the drawing would lose its balance.

Then there’s the mustache.
It’s not something you expect on a rabbit, and that’s exactly why it works. The wide, flowing shape adds weight to the lower half of the face, while the repeated lines give it structure. It feels bold, but not chaotic.

The teeth and lower shapes bring the character back toward something recognizable. Even with the exaggeration, those familiar elements remind you what you’re looking at.

Color plays a big role here. Bright greens push the drawing into a playful, almost surreal space, while the softer pink of the nose creates a natural focal point. The cooler tones in the mustache connect the top and bottom of the face without overwhelming it.

Watercolor softens everything just enough. The edges stay alive, the colors blend naturally, and the character feels less rigid because of it.
